Core Values

Our Story

We aim to reduce the amount of waste produced from plastic synthetic hair extensions by collecting all this waste and disposing it off in the right way thus, promoting the future of a more sustainable hair industry.

Cheveux Organique is Ugandan local initiative that produces Cheveux Organique, a plant-based Hair Extensions brand made from 100% natural banana fiber. The product is durable, eco-friendly, hypoallergenic (no allergic reactions), non-irritant, does not produce bad odor, is reusable and can be managed like natural hair. The flagship hair extensions have been tested and highly sought after in regional, and international markets.

Uganda is one of the largest producers of bananas in the world and banana stems have for a long time been treated as waste; yet can be utilized as a gold mine with industrial potential. Through the production of the biodegradable hair, we are addressing both health and environmental disparities in the hair extensions industry. In doing so, we empower women to make informed decisions about beauty products available to them by making information accessible and serving as a resource. We all deserve healthy alternatives.

Re-syko Initiative

Cheveux Organique also focuses on reducing the amount of waste produced from plastic synthetic hair extensions by collecting the waste and disposing it off in the right way thus, promoting the future of a more sustainable hair industry. We call our approach “The Re-syko Initiative” and expect this process to generate revenue from (a) recycling services provided directly to customers with plastic-synthetic hair waste and (b) reselling valuable degradation by-products of the process. The Re-syko initiative was started to help deal with this challenge. Many  women do not know or even care to know where and how the braids they pull down are collected and disposed off. The Re-Syko initiative will focus on attitude change towards proper collection, storage, and disposal of synthetic hair extensions waste.
